Admissions

Admissions
1. Family Interest Forms are collected year-round. Students are admitted on a first-come-first-served basis, with preference given to siblings and to children of employees. The Family Interest Form submission begins the enrollment process and helps the school plan spaces. Family Interest Forms do not reset yearly, so parents may submit their interest years in advance if desired.

2. Priority windows and invitations to register. Starting in November, current GVA Aurora families are invited to begin the registration process for new siblings who plan to enroll in kindergarten for the following school year. This is the only priority window provided to current families. Families that wait to register siblings after this window risk losing their spot if classes fill up. Starting in January, registration opens for families new to GVA; those who submitted a Family Interest Form are contacted in the order their information was received to invite them to register. Once the invitation is sent, families have 7 business days to accept by completing the registration forms.

3. Grade-level availability, waitlists, and oversubscription. Students are accepted year-round as space is available. Once a grade level is full, students are placed on a waitlist until a spot becomes available. If more than 150 students apply for a grade level, a lottery will be held in January to determine enrollment. The lottery determines enrollment among oversubscribed applicants.

4. Language assessment for 2nd-8th grade. Enrollment for 2nd-8th grade requires a language assessment before registering. The language assessment is informational and there is no specific language level required for admission. It helps families understand where their child stands relative to future classmates and supports placement within the language immersion program. The results are used for planning but do not disqualify a student.

5. Age requirements and early access. Kindergarten eligibility requires the child to be at least 5 years old on or before October 1 of the enrollment year. First-grade eligibility requires the child to be at least 6 years old on or before October 1. The School may approve Early Access enrollment in accordance with state law.
