Admissions
1) StVg1 admission: Aust-Lofoten Upper Secondary School is a public school serving Nordland County. All students aged 16 to 24 have the right to admission to upper secondary programs. Students from other counties may be admitted if they have a letter of permission from their home county. 2) IB Diploma Programme (Vg2) admission: Admission to the IB DP is open to students of all nationalities who would benefit from the challenging international curriculum and who fulfil the qualifications required for admission. Admission to the IB DP is dependent on meeting all admission procedures and qualifications as stated for StVg1, the availability of places and subjects, and priority criteria: a good academic record with a grade average of 4 or better from StVg1; a grade 4 or better in science, mathematics and English; and students who demonstrate many of the IB learner profile attributes. International students are welcome if they hold a valid residence permit for Norway and have a registered address in Nordland County. 3) IB DP Year 2 admission: The student must have less than 10% undocumented absence from subjects following national rules. The student must have participated and handed in assignments during Year 1; if the student fails to meet these criteria, admission to Year 2 can be granted in the case of documented illness, after careful consideration by the school leadership. If a student's grades during the second term of Year 1 are 1 or 2, the coordinator, counsellor, and subject teachers will discuss with the student (and parents if the student is under 18) whether it is possible to complete the last year of the IB Diploma programme. 4) Application process: Students must apply directly to the school using our application form, in addition to applying electronically through Vigo.no. Students without a Norwegian personal identification number may only apply directly to the school using the school application form. Application deadline is March 1. If there are special circumstances or needs that affect the student's academic performance or attendance, this must be communicated to the Head teacher and/or school counsellor; Special arrangements may be made in cooperation with the IB Coordinator and in accordance with rules and regulations of the IB and Nordland County. This policy has been created by the DP coordinator together with the school leadership team and is acknowledged by the local authorities; it is subject to biannual revision by the school leadership team. Scholarships
Utstyrsstipend: All students with ungdomsrett in upper secondary education can apply for equipment stipends to help cover school materials (e.g., PC rental, books, work clothing). Applications must be submitted by the deadlines of March 15 and November 15; the stipend amount depends on the program area, with five rates: 1196, 2248, 3625, 4925 and 6153 NOK. Lofotkraft energistipend: Four Aust-Lofoten students received Lofotkraft's energy stipend in 2025. The stipend is awarded to students who have chosen physics and mathematics and who meet the criteria; the total award is 16,000 NOK, distributed across Vg2 and Vg3. The selection involved a draw due to a high number of qualified applicants.
