Fostra Elementary

Fostra Elementary is an international Czech–English school in Prague’s Žižkov district, providing education across the lower and upper levels of elementary school. Its programme places Czech and English on an approximately equal footing, with 50% of lessons taught in English by native speakers. Classes accommodate up to 24 pupils, while two teachers are normally present during lessons, creating a ratio of no more than 12 pupils per teacher. Teaching combines the Czech educational programme with project-based activities that develop digital literacy, critical thinking, creativity and collaboration. Facilities presented by the school include classrooms, a library and a gym, alongside after-school care available until 5:30 p.m. A distinctive feature is its tandem-teaching model: three educators alternate within each class, with two teachers present during instruction to provide closer individual support. The school accepts both Czech-speaking children and international pupils who speak English and are prepared to learn Czech.
